Prospective Author Information
AHA Press books are used by practicing professionals (executives, senior and mid-level managers, and clinical leaders) and governing board members of hospitals, health systems, and allied health care provider organizations, as well as by university and college professors, consultants, and vendors who serve the health care field. We have a special interest in titles that focus on six health care areas:

  • Leadership and Strategic Management
  • Quality and Patient Safety
  • Workforce Issues (recruitment, retention, and management development)
  • Physician Relations and Clinical Integration
  • Governance and Trusteeship
  • ICD-9-CM Coding and Hospital Billing

Our titles help develop the leadership and management skills required to enable and motivate health care leaders. We specialize in publishing:

  • How-to handbooks and reference books
  • Professional development guides, textbooks, and manuals
  • Issues-oriented publications for health care innovators

Creating a Good Book Proposal
Individuals who wish to submit a proposal for a new book should prepare a book proposal according to AHA Press guidelines. The best proposals are those that (1) are based on first-hand experience in health care administration and operations, and (2) focus consistently on the practical needs and reading preferences of health care executives and managers, or on the requirements of non-clinical training programs. Guidelines on how to prepare a proposal are included in this PDF file.
